MLM-style affiliate programs can produce durable revenue, but in practice most “passive income/downline” pitches collapse because the unit economics are recruitment-driven (high churn, low retail volume) and you’ll see EPC/retention fall off a cliff after the first 30–60 days. If you want to test safely, only consider programs with verifiable retail demand, clean compliance (FTC income disclaimers, no hype claims), transparent cohort retention, and a comp plan where you can hit profitability on customer acquisition alone (track CAC vs LTV, refund/chargeback rate, and 90-day rebill).
Multi-tier can work, but in my testing most “MLM affiliate” setups underperform unless the product has real retention + clear compliance. If it’s mostly recruitment-driven, churn kills “passive” fast and risk goes up. Since I only have a few hours, I stick to two-tier or legit SaaS rev-share offers, build one evergreen funnel (simple landing + autoresponder), and track CAC vs LTV so I don’t waste time on recruitment-driven schemes.
